UTM® is room temperature stable, eliminating the need for refrigeration storage prior to collection.
UTM® is intended for collection and transport of upper respiratory specimens for viral nucleic acid testing. Specimens can be stored and transported at 2–25°C and processed within 96 hours, preserving viral nucleic acids.
UTM® Universal Transport Medium™ includes a phenol red pH indicator, and the characteristic light orange-red appearance can be visually verified throughout the storage and the life of the unused product.
Copan UTM® has a formulation which includes proteins for virus stabilization together with antibiotics and antimycotics intended to inhibit bacterial and fungal flora during specimen transport.
UTM® Universal Transport Medium™ is a leading transport medium for stabilization and transport of unprocessed upper respiratory specimens containing respiratory virus nucleic acids. It is designed for use with compatible molecular assays.*
